A Letter from the Secretary-General:

Dear Delegates and Chairs,

It is with immense pleasure and excitement that I introduce you to the Sixth Edition of the Ghana International School Model United Nations Conference  - GISMUN VI. Angelica, The Secretariat and I are thrilled to welcome you onto our beautiful campus and into the dynamic community we have created here at GIS and hope that each and everyone of you has an enjoyable and informative MUN Experience.

As one of the pioneering Ghanaian MUN Societies, the spirit of diplomacy has pervaded our international community and remains cemented through our motto of  ‘Understanding of Each Other’. Therefore, choosing  ‘Building Sustainable Peace : Revitalizing Partnerships in a Polarised World’, as the theme for this year’s Conference stemmed from a realization that in our current socio-political climate, conflict is increasingly exacerbated by a lack of effective communication and collaboration amongst differing parties resulting from ideological polarization. Model UN itself frequently illustrates the beauty of debating diverse perspectives, especially in instances where two viewpoints oppose one another and this theme serves to highlight and remind us of the privilege of being able to freely question and challenge each other's opinions.

It is my hope that throughout this Conference and beyond, you reflect on this principle and actively listen to opinions which differ from yours, even when they do not alter your perspective.

And regardless of whether this is your first or last conference, I wish you an eye-opening and reflective experience which leaves you yearning to learn more about the world around you!
